TODDLERS SCHOOL SECTION

Ada Bolchini Dell'Acqua officially recognised Institute - Cascina Corba - Milan

The Toddlers School section is aimed at children aged 24 to 36 months of age.

The two sections, Ladybirds and Butterflies, welcome the children in spaces and classrooms dedicated to them and structured in order to promote concrete experiences and consolidate the skills already acquired.

The child discovers the world: they manipulate, assemble, construct when they are immersed in a positive and respectful climate, in an environment that grants them freedom of movement. The approach to the activities is slow in time and short in duration, to allow the child to experience without fear and to give time to understand what is being done.

TEACHING ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCES

In the Toddlers School section, the child discovers the world: they manipulate, assemble, construct when they are immersed in a positive and respectful climate, in an environment that grants him freedom of movement.

The approach to the activities is slow in time and short in duration, to allow the child to experience without fear and to give time to understand what is being done.

Through play, exploration and discovery, the child learns to observe the reality that surrounds them and to become aware of themselves. The development of sensory-perceptive skills is the basis of all forms of intelligence. Each activity includes the cognitive, expressive, socializing and communicative area.

The Toddlers School section takes part in the annual didactic planning together with the Kindergarten, from which however it differs in terms of implementation times and methods.

  • Maturation of identity (developing the capacity for security, trust and self-esteem and the relational and communicative ones).
  • Conquering autonomy (knowing how to do alone, living with others, collaborating, expressing feelings).
  • Development of competence (develop sense-perceptive, communicative, motor and creative skills).

In the second part of the school year, the educational project is enriched with the first excursions on the territory, to the theater and in the library.

Bilingualism is an aspect to which a great attention is paid: the teacher of English language takes part in the section activities three hours a week, collaborating with the teachers at various times of the day: reception – activities – labs – changing – lunch – nanna (nap), using only the English language for dialogue with children. In this way the children become familiar with the English language while having fun, listening to songs, colouring, drawing, dancing, and doing regular routines. Discovering a new lexical register makes them more attentive to learning and eager to learn.

The officially recognised school is a public school recognized by the Ministry of Education under Law 62 dated 2000.

The school manages the didactic and cultural orientation project in full autonomy in compliance with ministerial regulations.

The teachers are carefully chosen by the School Director and accompanied to encourage and guarantee pedagogical continuity.

The classes are formed by few students so that everyone can be followed individually and valued in their schooling.

Enrolment takes place through a first contact with the school (in person, by phone or by mail); an appointment is then set up with the teaching coordinator to get to know the family that the child is a part of, visit the school and present the educational offer. If the family decides to proceed with the enrolment, the documents that must be completed and signed by both parents will be handed in to formalize the enrolment itself; at the same time, one of the educators agrees with the family for a first interview, in order to get to know each other and to establish the modalities of the insertion.

IN THE WORLD OF BOLCHINI

Where experience and education take shape

HISTORY

The “Ada Bolchini Dell’Acqua” Institute in Milan is the latest acquisition of the Pio Istituto Pei Figli della Provvidenza.

Since 1953 some families and ladies of the Milanese petty bourgeoisie and aristocracy, including Ada Bolchini dell’Acqua, were committed to the benefit of mothers and their newborns. In 1956 they opened a Maternal House, to welcome about thirty mothers with children from 0 to 3 years.

THE ENVIRONMENTS

The headquarters of Ada Bolchini Dell’Acqua are located in the Milanese Inganni district and have also arisen thanks to the contribution of the well-known architect Marco Zanuso and the artist Lucio Fontana: the decoration of the internal chapel and ceiling, the famous Via Crucis rosa now kept at the Diocesan Museum of Milan and the four cherubs on either side of the altar.

“Children’s games are not games, and we must consider them as their most serious actions.”

Michel De Montaigne
